MappSmith — Disc golf course builder

  • Can I move or renumber the hole numbers?

Yes. The builder places each number beside its tee, or on the tee pad where holes are packed too tight. In the Studio each one becomes ordinary text: drag it, retype it or delete it.
  • Can I turn pieces and marks off?

Yes, all of them. Under Details every layer can be switched off: the water, the trees, the plaque and the frame. So can every mark: the course name, the line under it, the date and names lines, the hole numbers, the baskets, the tee pads, the compass, the course length, an out-of-bounds line roun...
  • How do I make a disc golf course map?

In the Layers panel, set Product to "Disc golf course". The disc golf builder opens. Course: tap a course in the library, find one by its name, its park or its town, or press Near me. Look: choose Raised fairways, Engraved or Printed, a finish, the fairway width, the basket mark, the tee pads an...
  • What do the three looks give me?

Raised fairways: every hole is a raised piece from its tee pad to a round basket end, with the basket burned into the end and the hole number by the tee. The water is a blue sheet under the board, and the words sit on a raised plaque. Few, big pieces to glue. Engraved: one board with the fairways...
  • What is in the library?

Well-known courses whose every hole is mapped from tee to basket, each checked against aerial photos before it went in. Many famous courses are not mapped hole by hole yet, so they are not in the library; find them by name and the builder shows whatever is mapped.
  • Where do the trees come from?

From the woods and single trees mapped round the course on OpenStreetMap. Trees always keep clear of the fairways, the baskets, the numbers and the water. Where nothing is mapped beside a hole, the builder lines its fairway with a loose row of trees so it still reads as cut through the woods; tur...
  • Which courses can I find?

Any course whose holes are mapped on OpenStreetMap, worldwide. Search a course, a park or a town and the builder looks there for holes. A park with several layouts (Red and Yellow tees, A and B pins, Pro and Am) lists each one; pick yours. Mapping varies: most courses are mapped tee to basket, so...
