Wide enough to read across a room: a blue ribbon about 2% of the board's short side (Wide, Medium or Fine, or set it exactly under Fine tuning). Where the riverbanks are mapped and wider than that, the river shows its real banks, so wide pools, braids and the lakes it runs through keep their shape. Tributaries are narrower, by class: rivers joining it, side channels, and named creeks if you ask for them.
