Where a network is a tangle (a flow zone with trails side by side, switchbacks stacked down a hill), bold strips would weld into one blob that reads as nothing. The builder measures how close the trails run and draws them a little finer to keep them apart. Set the width yourself under Details, take some trails off, or choose a bigger board.
